Navitas Professional has been shortlisted in the Northern Territory’s Export and Industry Awards. Additionally, Navitas Professional student, Biying (Nancy) Peng has been named as a finalist for International Student of the Year.

Organised by the International Business Council of the Chamber of Commerce NT, the awards recognise the outstanding achievements of Northern Territory exporters and industry leaders. This year’s awards focus on businesses and individuals who have “Reshaped, Adapted and Revived throughout the COVID-19 pandemic”.

Despite the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Navitas Professional has continued to innovate and lead. It was one of the first education and training providers to transition to an online delivery model that put student’s safety first while not compromising on delivery standards. Internships have incorporated more options to accommodate students’ different needs so in addition to traditional on-site placements, they can also choose remote internships, and virtual internships.

Additionally, Navitas Professional quickly recognised the potential financial hardships faced by international students unable to receive Government support and was the first provider to implement support systems that enabled students to immediately seek assistance when needed.

Students studying at Navitas Professional have also demonstrated their commitment throughout the pandemic, none more so than Biying (Nancy) who has been recognised for her contributions to the local business community. This included:

  • Assisting with local farmers with advertising their produce and connecting them with people unable to buy fresh vegetables,
  • Volunteering with the Multicultural Council of the NT to help ethnic communities affected by COVID-19, and
  • Assisting Temporary Visa Holders and international students to access food vouchers.

“We are pleased that Nancy has been recognised as a finalist in these awards.  It shows how our Professional Year participants and all international students add both value and diversity to the NT and Australia.  said Robyn Connell, Navitas Professional Territory Operations Manager.

The winners of the NT Export Industry Award’s will be announced on the 6th of November.
